Tracing Ancestors

Although the website deals mainly with the families and localities of northern Hampshire, this particular section is aimed at all those who are generally involved in attempting to trace their ancestors throughout history, or at least embarking upon such a project - no matter where they were living in England or indeed in any other part of the western world.

These pages contain important and often unpublished advice concerning genealogical or ancestry research in general.  The compiler and author is a professional genealogist and researcher with over 38 years of experience to date.  He would also be able to answer readers' questions related to the subject of genealogical research, if so requested - and they can then be posted in this section of the Changing Seasons.

These articles are written in order to help and encourage the reader to undertake accurate genealogical research.  With so many websites nowadays offering “Online Genealogy”, and with family history being so very popular because of this, it becomes more important than ever before that the researcher is able to undertake accurate and meticulous work.  Being that genealogy (or family history research, or whatever one may call it) has become so much easier through the computerised indexes on offer through online genealogy websites, it must be remembered that serious mistakes can still occur in research, leading to the wrong lineage being traced, mostly through ignorance, attempting to speed up the process, and through bypassing necessary checks.
